During the month of August, if the day’s temperature reaches 93 degrees, the next day three of New Orleans’ largest arts institutions (New Orleans Museum of Art, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, and Contemporary Arts Center) will open their doors for free to Louisiana residents, courtesy of The Helis Foundation.

Visitors on Art & AC days at NOMA will have the opportunity to enter a raffle to win a print of photographer David Armand’s NOLA Color Study.

Imperial Woodpecker Sno-Balls has been contracted to offer sno-balls for free on Art & AC days at NOMA’s front entrance. Helis will also sponsor a raffle at each museum. Visitors will check-in at the front desk and receive one set of two tickets. The top portion must be filled out and turned back in for a chance to win one of two prints of NOLA Color Study by David Armentor. The other can be redeemed for one sno-ball.

The Helis Foundation advances access to the arts, continuing the William G. Helis family’s legacy of philanthropic support to the New Orleans community. August is traditionally slow month for cultural institutions despite the fact that they are chilled refuges from New Orleans’ unforgiving summer heat. The idea is to create an active incentive to visit the city’s museum when it is hot outside. August is also “Museum Month” where museum members across the city can visit any other museum as a reciprocal member. In addition, Wednesdays are free to Louisiana residents year round thanks to the Helis Foundation.
