Family Field Day

A free family festival will be held in the expansion of the Besthoff Sculpture Garden with programs that focus on the body, physical play, and the environment as it relates to art making. Activities and entertainment will include the following:
Performance / Music
- Musical performance by Washboard Chaz
- Movement workshop and performance by POSH Expressions Performing Arts Experience — a dance and performing arts studio based in New Orleans
Activities
- Yoga classes with Project Peaceful Warriors
- Pop-Up Talks on sculptures in the garden with NOMA staff, docents, and teaching artists
- Story time with NOMA staff, docents, and teaching artists
- NOMA Membership info table and prize wheel
- Stroller Parade – Mardi Gras float inspired “photo booth”
Art-Making Activities
- Binocular making with NOMA Teaching Artists
- Veggie printmaking on paper bags in partnership with Grow Dat Youth Farm
- Aviary still lifes – autumn still life drawing workshop inspired by the flora and birdlife of City Park
- Community art-making activity “Exquisite Landscape”
- Collaborative drop-in activity for all ages – panoramic landscape inspired by Regina Agu’s installation Passage, on view in the museum’s Great Hall, with NOMA teaching artists
Self-Guided Activities
- Eye Spy in the Garden – scavenger hunt activity card
- Be a Muse performative activity card
Two food trucks will be operating near the main gate of the Besthoff Sculpture Garden expansion.
