- 7:30 pm: Artist Perspective by Ayo Scott on Jasper Johns: “Neutral Ground”
About “Neutral Ground”
“Neutral Ground” is a conversation led by local artist Ayo Scott, who will explore American painter Jasper Johns use of charged symbols and iconography like American flags. Scott will discuss how one’s response to such iconography is informed by their own cultural context, and share works from his recent exhibition “the Lies we Believe.” He will discuss the influence of Johns’ work on his own art, and the way appropriating imagery like flags can help communicate new ideas about such familiar forms.
About Eileina D’Ennis and Todd Duke
Eileina and Todd have been interpreting music with one another as a duo for some time now. They met on stage for their first performance without even meeting prior and have been inseparable ever since. Eileina hails from the United Kingdom and has been performing in New Orleans for several years where she has been an extraordinary addition to the jazz scene. Todd, a New Orleans native, is a master jazz guitarist who is consistently in demand and on call.
