Small Talks are ten-to-fifteen-minute gallery talks focused on one object or a small group of objects. These brief informal sessions enrich the visitor experience and allow visitors to learn more about works of art in NOMA’s permanent holdings as well as those on view in temporary exhibitions.

Join Mel Buchanan, Curator of Decorative Arts and Design, for a discussion about turn-of-the-century Mardi Gras parade designer Bror Anders Wikstrom. Buchanan will point out Wikstrom’s name carved into the original museum building along with other prominent artists of his era. She will also discuss his elaborately designed cabinet on view in NOMA’s second floor decorative arts gallery and touch on his profound impact on the visual culture of Carnival in New Orleans.
