Gallery Talk: Tina Freeman: Lamentations with Curator Russell Lord

Gallery talks are casual conversations between artists, curators, and other special guests with NOMA visitors frequently scheduled throughout the year. Join Russell Lord, Freeman Family Curator of Photography, for a discussion about the exhibition Tina Freeman: Lamentations, a seven-year photo-documentation of Louisiana’s wetlands and the glacial landscapes of the Arctic and Antarctic by Tina Freeman.

Activation of Brève braises with artist Manon Bellet and Justin Peake

In the installation Brève braises, artist Manon Bellet affixes the charred remains of burned paper on the walls of the gallery in the exhibition Bodies of Knowledge. From these tattered remains, she creates a script or musical score that runs across an entire length of a long white wall. Musician Justin Peake will participate in this activation of the installation.

The Helis Foundation Artist Talk: Adriana Corral with Héctor Domínguez-Ruvalcaba

Adriana Corral, among the eleven artists represented in Bodies of Knowledge, will join Héctor Domínguez-Ruvalcaba, associate professor at the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Texas Austin, in conversation about Corral’s work. Admission is free courtesy of The Helis Foundation’s Art for All free day. Corral’s work draws attention to the widespread disappearances and murders of women and girls in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico.
