That is\, until the cast started to be mysteriously killed off…and the crew…and the entire Louisiana Philharmonic that was supposed to take part in the festivities. But the show must go on! By any means necessary… \nCome enjoy this horrifically hilarious Halloween-season production that is part American classic\, part the play that goes wrong\, and all kinds of absurd fun. Written by NOLA Project favorite Pete McElligott\, this new telling is bound to leave you laughing your head off. Perhaps literally. \nThe Legend of Sleepy Hollow runs Wednesdays\, Thursdays\, Fridays\, and Sundays at 7 pm from October 16 to November 13. All seating is bring-your-own. Food trucks will be available at all performances as well as a fully stocked bar. No outside food or drink is allowed inside the Sculpture Garden other than food truck and NOMA bar items. \nRain Plan: For productions canceled due to inclement weather\, we will notify all ticketed patrons no later than 4pm. Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure is a brilliant play almost absurdly well-fashioned for our modern American age of divisive politics and legal retribution. \nAnd even more exciting\, The NOLA Project is proud to partner with PlayOn Shakespeare to present this production with a world-premiere new modern-verse translation by playwright AdidiBrennan Kapil with support from the Hitz Foundation. \nAs a part of PlayOn Shakespeare\, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival commissioned 36 playwrights—more than half are women and more than half are playwrights of color\, each paired with a dramaturg—to translate Shakespeare’s works into contemporary modern English to celebrate the enduring impact of the Bard’s plays. These commissions challenge the playwrights to bring the same level of dramatic pressure and rigor of language to their work as is present in the originals\, deepening our understanding and engagement with Shakespeare. DESCRIPTION:The NOLA Project returns to the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden for yet another crowd-pleasing outdoor theatrical production in partnership with NOMA. \nThe Henchman: A Shakespeare Story\, an imagined sequel by playwright Michael Aaron Santos to A Midsummer Night’s Dream\, reveals the true story of Jacob\, the little changeling boy who Oberon and Titania quarreled over many years ago. Unexpectedly learning that he the long-lost son of the King of India\, Jacob discovers he must now flee his fairy-world homestead to escape the pursuit of Esau\, Jacob’s warmongering brother\, who is hellbent on dispatching Jacob\, and claiming the throne. Oberon and Titania are forced to send Jacob with his faithful friend Puck to Greece to enlist the aid of Theseus and Hippolyta in an adventurous comedic sequel to the Bard’s timeless tale. \nThe Henchman runs Wednesdays\, Thursdays\, Fridays\, and Sundays at 7 pm from May 8 to 31. All seating is bring-your-own. Food trucks will be available at all performances as well as a fully stocked bar. DESCRIPTION:The NOLA Project returns to NOMA’s Besthoff Sculpture Garden with another exciting and hilarious adaptation by award-winning playwright Pete McElligott (Adventures in Wonderland; Don Quixote). This time\, the company takes on Alexandre Dumas’ classic tale The Three Musketeers in an adaptation that is part Monty Python foolishness\, part swashbuckling adventure tale\, and all NOLA Project. Big Easy Award-winning director Mark Routhier will direct. \nThe Three Musketeers will be staged in the Besthoff Sculpture Garden at 7 pm on May 9\, 10\, 11\, 13\, 16\, 17\, 18\, 20\, 23\, 24\, 25\, and 27. \n$25 for adults ($30 for Friday performances) \n$18 for NOMA members \nBox Office: Online sales | 504.302.9117 \nBring-Your-Own Seating: There will be a front section for blankets and an area in the rear for chairs. All items benefit Dress for Success\, a nonprofit that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support\, professional attire\, and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. \nABOUT JOSH PAXTON\nJoshua Paxton has been a fixture on the New Orleans music scene for the past ten years\, performing as a solo artist\, group leader\, and sideman with many of the Crescent City’s top names.  His diverse musical background ranges from avant-garde jazz to stints with major label rock bands. Though classically trained\, by the end of high school he saw his future in jazz. Part The Chronicles of Narnia and part Labyrinth\, THE SPIDER QUEEN takes its cues from the adventure stories of our childhoods and will dazzle audiences with large-scale puppets\, vivid masquerade\, and extravagant costuming. This must-see production\, a collaboration between NOMA and The NOLA Project theater company\, will be unlike any show staged in the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden. \nDates: May 10\,11\, 12\, 14\, 17\, 18\, 21\, 24\, 25\, 26\, 27\, and 28 at 7:00 p.m. (Gates open at 6:00 p.m. with food and drinks available for purchase.) \nSeating: Patrons are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets. DESCRIPTION:The NOLA Project presents Oskar and the Countless Costume Changes\, directed by Alex Ates. Ten-year-old Oskar gets to fulfill a lifelong dream of writing and directing a play at his elementary school. But when classmates challenge his rigid ideas about the production’s male and female characters—and who should play whom—everything starts falling apart. Will Oskar solve the backstage brouhaha before opening night? This funny and fast-paced contemporary farce tackles gender stereotypes head-on and encourages audiences not only to understand the complexities of gender roles but also to practice empathy when encountering boys and girls who express across the spectrum of gender identity. \nThis is the regional premiere of the play. The show was commissioned\, developed\, and produced by TheatreWorks Silicon Valley in Palo Alto\, California\, in association with the Palo Alto Unified School District. \nThe show is approximately one hour long and runs every Saturday in March at 1pm in NOMA’s Stern Auditorium. Big Easy Award winning playwright Pete McElligott brings a classic novel to new and hilarious life with Miguel de Cervantes’ classic tale Don Quixote. \nThis world premiere is a comedy of old folly mixed with new adventures. By Pete McElligott\, this new tale follows the insanely idealistic knight and the utterly practical Sancho Panza as they encounter the world. Together they discover life might be safer when approached realistically\, but it’s so much richer when the craziest of dreams are followed. As Quixote instructs the audience on how life should be lived\, our fantastical knight takes on everything from bandits and romance to grade school math. He rarely wins\, but he never loses hope.
