NEW ORLEANS, LA – Lisa Rotondo-McCord, Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs at the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA), has announced Kelsey Brosnan as Doris Zemurray Stone Curatorial Fellow for European Art, and Madeleine Wieand as Collection Database Associate.
As Curatorial Fellow for European Art, Kelsey Brosnan will primarily work on the planning and implementation of the major international loan exhibition The Orléans Collection, to open October 26, 2018. Prior to joining NOMA, Brosnan was an art history lecturer at the University of Vermont, and served as a research assistant for the Department of Drawings and Prints at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Brosnan has a B.A. in Art History from the Barnard College of Columbia University, and is currently working toward a Ph.D. from Rutgers University.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa., Madeleine Wieand received her B.F.A. in Photography from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Prior to joining NOMA, Wieand worked in gallery administration and with Artex Risk Solutions. She is also an artist member of The Front, a collectively-run exhibition space in the Bywater neighborhood. At NOMA, Wieand position of Collection Database Associate, funded by an IMLS grant, will focus on digitization of the museum’s renowned African art collection.
About NOMA and the Besthoff Sculpture Garden
The New Orleans Museum of Art, founded in 1910 by Isaac Delgado, houses nearly 40,000 art objects encompassing 5,000 years of world art. Works from the permanent collection, along with continuously changing special exhibitions, are on view in the museum’s 46 galleries Fridays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The adjoining Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden features work by over 60 artists, including several of the 20th century’s master sculptors. The Sculpture Garden is open seven days a week: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The New Orleans Museum of Art and the Besthoff Sculpture Garden are fully accessible to handicapped visitors and wheelchairs are available from the front desk.
