NOMA Participates in “America Recycles Day” Thanks to Keep Louisiana Beautiful
(New Orleans, LA) – As New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) celebrates 100 years, the museum is implementing sustainable practices. NOMA recently received a grant from Keep Louisiana Beautiful, a non-profit dedicated to promoting a “personal, corporate and community responsibility for a clean and beautiful Louisiana.”
This grant comes to NOMA at an ideal time, as NOMA begins a transition towards becoming a green facility. Almost one year ago, NOMA formed a Green Committee. Recent environmentally conscious changes include museum-wide recycling, replacing Styrofoam at the coffee machine with washable coffee mugs, as well as hand driers in the bathroom instead of paper towels.
Looking forward to the next 100 years and beyond, NOMA is excited to take its commitment to the environment to the next level. Major fundraisers such as Odyssey Ball and Art in Bloom now include recycling, and on November 15th the museum’s staff will participate in “America Recycles Day.” NOMA is dedicated to ushering in a century , and will continue to take green initiatives in the future.

The New Orleans Museum of Art, founded in 1910 by Isaac Delgado, houses over 35,000 art objects encompassing 4,000 years of world art. Works from the permanent collection, along with continuously changing temporary exhibitions, are on view in the museum’s 46 galleries Fridays from 10 am to 9 p.m. and Tuesdays to Sundays from 10 am to 5 pm The adjacent Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden features work by over 60 artists, including several of the 20th century’s great master sculptors.
