NOMA, the NOLA Project present Romeo and Juliet in the Great Hall
(NEW ORLEANS, LA) The NOLA Project continues its successful partnership with The New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) this December as they present Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet inside the museum’s Great Hall. Shows will be on December 8, 10, 11, 15, 17 and 18 at 7:30 p.m.
Featuring a twenty person cast of award-winning actors and musicians, Romeo and Juliet tells the classic tale of star-crossed young lovers who embark on a fatally doomed romance.
The site-specific, limited-seating production will utilize NOMA’s Great Hall with its towering columns and sprawling marble balconies to present an exciting, interactive production unlike anything New Orleans audiences have ever seen.
“Just as NOMA’s Sculpture Garden became a character inMidsummer Night’s Dream, our Great Hall sets the tone for this production,” said NOMA Director Susan Taylor. “We are delighted to be working with the NOLA Project and collaborating on these site-specific theatre performances.”
NOMA and the NOLA Project have partnered in two sold-out productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in NOMA’s Besthoff Sculpture Garden as well as the Tony Award-winning comedy Art by Yasmina Reza.
“This NOLA Project collaboration fits in with our mission to inspire the love of art,” Taylor said. “We are challenging and engaging a new public with this partnership. Performing arts, as well as visual arts, are vital to the cultural livelihood of our city.”
